Jose I. Rivas

Jose I. Rivas was born in Havana, Cuba and moved to Orlando, Florida in 1979. Jose graduated with honors from the prestigious Rollins College in 1993. At Rollins, Jose obtained a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Political Sciences and History. Throughout the late 1990’s Jose served as managing partner in several hospitality business ventures. He was responsible for launching numerous new successful business ventures.

As a result of his extensive corporate experience, Jose decided to pursue a legal education at FAMU College of Law in 2003. During his legal education, Jose was elected to fundraiser committee of HALSA (Hispanic American Latin Student Association) at FAMU College of Law. Jose was a top achiever in the contracts negotiation class. Prior to graduation, Jose served as a Florida Supreme Court Certified Legal Intern for the Public Defender’s Office of the Ninth Judicial Circuit, where he obtained valuable legal experience in a variety of misdemeanor and felony cases. His dedication to his clients and vigorous negotiations played a major part in his courtroom experience.

 

After earning his law degree in 2006, Jose became a senior partner at The Rivas Law Firm, P.A., in Winter Park, Florida. As law partner, he has participated in misdemeanor, domestic violence, juvenile, and felony cases. Jose has also handled a variety of civil cases, including: evictions, collections, judgments, and contract negotiations. Jose has appeared in a wide range of cases in front of a jury and judges with great success. His experience as an entrepreneur and attorney offers clients a full perspective of the criminal justice system and their individual cases. His prior entrepreneurial and legal experience has been a valuable tool in his everyday negotiations and legal defense. His pursuit of justice and dedication to serving the needy has become a priority in his everyday practice.
